چکیده

Many analytical or computational applications, especially legacy systems, create documents and display screens in response to user queries “dynamically” or in “real time”. These “virtual documents” do not exist in advance, and thus hypermedia features must be generated “just in time” automatically and dynamically. Conversely, the hypermedia features may have to cause target documents to be generated or re-generated. This paper addresses some of the challenges faced in developing hypermedia support for virtual documents, including dynamic hypermedia functionality, dynamic regeneration, and dynamic anchor re-identification and relocation. It presents an architecture to support just-in-time hypermedia and discusses issues prompted by this research.

MASH: A Framework for Adaptive Spatial Hypermedia

Spatial hypermedia provides opportunities for expression not possible in navigational hypertext. However, static spatial hypermedia, just like static traditional hypermedia, has a single presentation for all use contexts. We are exploring the use of multiple adaptation models to alter the presentation of spatial hypertext. Differences between navigational and spatial hypertext expression requir...

Implementation Issues on OHS-based Workflow Services

We believe that workflow services can be implemented using the OHS approach and such an open hypermedia based workflow service will be more flexible to fit into dynamic work situations than other approaches to provide WF functionality. The on-going OHS work on a component-based architecture and an extensible open hypermedia data model provides a foundation for developing such hypermedia based W...

An Architecture for Hypermedia Systems Using MHEG Standard Objects Interchange

Most hypermedia systems have been developed as a unique and self-contained application preventing information interchange and code reusability between applications. To address this problem, a generic layered architecture for hypermedia systems with four major interfaces is first introduced. The architecture adequately uses the MHEG proposal to provide the desired independence between hypermedia...

Putting the Media into Hypermedia

This paper discusses the issues involved in putting the media into a hypermedia system. The main argument of the paper is that to-date media representation and underlying link strategies have been too closely tied together in the move from hypertext to hypermedia. We argue that it is necessary to separate the issues of media from link structure, and we present a model which solves some of the p...
